Over this two day meeting, alumni discussed opportunities for future Harvard students from Latin America with admissions directors for schools across the University, learned about some of the challenges and successes each Club has faced, heard about the new Harvard Innovation Lab, and received updates on a wide variety of topics affecting alumni in Latin America and the Caribbean from key faculty members, including ; Jorge I. Domínguez, Vice Provost for International Affairs and Antonio Madero Professor for the Study of Mexico, Faculty of Arts and Sciences; Tamara Elliott Rogers, Harvard Vice President for Alumni Affairs and Development, Margot Gill, Administrative Dean of the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences and Chairperson of the Committee on General Scholarships; Merilee Grindle, Edward S. Mason Professor of International Development; Director, David Rockefeller Center for Latin American Studies and Peter DeShazo, Executive Director at LASPAU.
This successful meeting came on the heels of the first annual regional meeting for Latin American Club, Contact, and SIG Leaders in Cartagena, Colombia this past November. The meetings in Cambridge and Latin America are designed to complement each other, and they each cover different topics that help Club and SIG Leaders and HAA Contacts in Latin America and the Caribbean strengthen their alumni communities.
